Google Unveils the Pixel 3, Pixel Slate, and Home Hub

Google Unveils the Pixel 3, Pixel Slate, and Home Hub

by Malika Karoum / Wednesday, 10 October 2018 / Published in Malika Karoum Global News

Google has unveiled a bunch of new hardware, including the Pixel 3, the Pixel Slate, and the Home Hub. The Pixel 3 is exactly what we expected after a series of leaks, and both the Pixel Slate and Home Hub are interesting enough to warrant a closer look.

Now dominant online, in recent years Google has tried its hand at hardware as well. So we have smartphones, Chromebooks, the Chromecast, Google Home, and Nest devices all made by Google. And we now have three more Google products to consider buying.

Google Unveils New Hardware

Google unveiled its new hardware at a glossy event in New York City on October 9th, 2018.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are Google’s new flagship Android devices. The Pixel 3 boasts a 5.5-inch screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4GB of RAM, dual front-facing cameras, and a single 12.2MP camera on the rear. The XL is exactly the same except for its 6.3-inch screen.

The Pixel Slate is Google’s new Chrome OS tablet. It boasts a 12.3-inch screen bordered by front-facing stereo speakers. You get cameras front and rear, two USB-C ports, and 4K video output. Unfortunately, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack. Prices start at $ 599.

The Home Hub is Google’s answer to the Amazon Echo Show and Portal from Facebook. Which means it’s essentially a tablet on a stand. Home Hub is powered by Google Assistant, and is designed to help you work, rest, and play. Home Hub is competitively priced at $ 149.

Google Ups Its Hardware Game

On paper the new Google hardware represents the company upping its game. The Pixel 3 looks like being a superb smartphone, the Pixel Slate looks to be Google’s best tablet to date, and the Home Hub would be a small but powerful addition to any smart home.

If you already own some Google hardware we’ve got you covered. We’ve previously published articles on setting up and using your Google Home and setting up and using your Chromecast. We also have the ultimate how-to guide for Chromebook beginners.
